Dhaincha also called Sesbania bispinosa is a generally used as green manure crop. It can be grown on all season having sufficient moisture in soil. It not only improve physical properties but also helps in meeting nitrogen requirement of succeeding crop. Method of sowing is broadcasting. Incorporate the green matter within 45-60 days after sowing.
Biomass Yield: Dhaincha gives around 10 tons per acre per Year.
Seed Rate: 20 kg per Acre.
Land Preparation - Ploughed land thoroughly before monsoon to bring soil to fine tilth. After ploughing, make soil weed and stubble free. Then levelled soil properly. Add 3-4 ton/acre of well decomposed cow dung at time of field preparation.
Harvesting - For green manure purpose buried crop in soil when crop is of 40-60 days old. For grain purpose crop is ready to harvest from mid-October to early November depending upon the sowing period.
