Ground nut, also known as "poor man's almond," is one of India's most important oilseed crops. Although groundnut is a well-known oilseed, it is actually a member of the pulse family and is high in both oil and protein. Ground nut oil and protein content range from 40 to 55 percent and 20 to 30 percent, respectively. Ground nut is also known as peanut, monkey nut, and earth nut. Because the crop is grown on a large scale and in open fields, it is vulnerable to a wide range of pests and diseases.
